WILL VAULKS - FROM LIVING ON PENNIES

Will Vaulks - from living on pennies to International Football.

From being paid 33 pennies in professional football to becoming an international star, Will Vaulks' dramatic rise will see him rub shoulders with top players like Curtis Nelson and Joe Day. The three confirmed their signings to Cardiff city at the beginning of this summer's transfer business.

Vaulks arrives in Cardiff on a three-year deal from Rotherham at an initial price of £2.1 million. The 25-year-old Wales midfielder started his remarkable journey in Tranmere at the age of 18 years in 2012. The move makes sense for Vaulks, fulfilling his desire to remain in the Championship and presenting him with a great opportunity to push for more recognition at home (Wales).

Will Vaulks remarkable journey in football.

As a professional player, Valks started his career at 18 years playing for Tranmere Rovers in 2012, though he failed to make it to the senior team. That saw him join the North Conference team, Workington on loan before joining the Scottish side Falkirk in 2013. That saw him become the lowest earning player in football for several months, getting paid only 33 pence per week.

At Falkirk, Vaulks made 146 appearances in the Scottish cup final in 2015 and two play-off finals. He then joined Rotherham in 2016 on a three-year deal at an undisclosed price. The midfielder scored his first goal on his debut match for Rotherham while playing against Wolves in August, ending the match in a 2-2 draw.

Vaulks made 42 appearances in all competitions in the 2016/2017 season, though the Millers got relegated to League One. However, he was one of the crucial players that helped Rotherham finish the 2017/2018 season in the fourth place to qualify for the playoffs. He scored the second goal for the Millers in the return fixture against Scunthorpe following a 2-2 draw in the first leg. The match ended with a 4-2 win that saw Rotherham progress to the final.

In the final, Vaulks played full time to help Rotherham beat Shrewsbury and earn their promotion back into the Championship. His achievements saw him crowned as the player of the year in Rotherham United and also caught the attention of Wales's national team manager Ryan Giggs. He made his debut for the Welsh side earlier this year in March.

What Vaulks has to say about playing for Cardiff.

Joining the Bluebirds only a few months after his international debut, Vaulks couldn't hide his happiness about the move. His comments come as music to the ears of Cardiff fans, as many expect that Vaulks's contribution will boost their chances of winning bets placed on their favorite team.

Vaulks is looking forward to being a regular player at Cardiff City, after getting a taste of their stadium during the Slovakia match. Cardiff boss, Neil Warnock also believes that Vaulks alongside the other two new players will play a vital part in the team as they attempt to make a run for the premier league.
