Young Guns: Weekly update - Thursday 18th October

Jonathan Bond (Watford - goalkeeper) Is planning to make an impression on Hornets manager Gianfranco Zola by applying himself during training.  The Wales youth international has started once already in the Capitol One Cup.

“I’ll do that by training hard every day, with Manuel Almunia here I have already picked up some things off him – it has been good.  If you’re a Number 2 keeper you have to do everything you can to ensure that if the Number 1 does get injured - the coaching staff have trust in you. I know I’m young for a goalkeeper but I’ve got to do everything I can in training."

Tomos Clarke (Oldham - defender) Put in a good performance as the reserves beat a Blackburn second string featuring Colin Kazim-Richards this week.  The Latics won 5-4 on penalties after a normal time stalemate.

Kyle Copp (Swansea City - midfielder) & Corey Francis (Swansea City - midfielder) & Josh Sheehan (Swansea City - midfielder) Were all on the scoresheet as the U18's beat Cardiff City in a mini derby last weekend.

Jordan Cranston (Wolves - defender) Was on reserve team duty this week as they drew 1-1 with Man City.  The City XI was once again captained by Emyr Huws (Man City - midfielder).

Declan Dalley (Man Utd - defender) Was in the starting line up as the U18's beat Spurs 3-1 last Saturday.

Lloyd Jones (Liverpool - defender) And his fellow defenders kept a clean sheet as they entertained Middlesbrough last weekend.  The Wales U19 international was also unlucky not to score, clipping the bar with a header in the 3-0 win.

Callum Saunders (Crewe - striker) Scored his sides second in a comprehensive 4-0 victory over Wigan U18's last Saturday.

Sanchez Watt (Arsenal - striker) Has been sent out on loan to Colchester Utd as he continues to gather first team experience away from The Emirates.  Watt also managed a goal this weekend as Colchester beat Stevenage 1-0.  He will stay on loan for an initial period of three months.
