Young Guns: Weekly update - Friday 1st February

Michael Doughty (QPR - midfielder) Has joined St Johnstone on loan for the remainder of the season. A move to Scotland was certainly beneficial to his Wales U21 international team mate Paul Dummett (Newcastle - defender) after he spent a period with St Mirren.

Wes Burns (Bristol City - midfielder) Made his Championship debut as a half time sub as Bristol City crashed 4-0 to Leicester City at Ashton Gate last Saturday.  Burns has been impressing manager Derek McKinnes and could well get more game time as City look to climb out of the relegation zone.  Burns also made an appearance off the bench as the club started life udner new manager Sean O'Driscoll following the sacking of McIness.  The youngster stepped off the bench after 72 minutes of the 1-0 defeat.

Jake Cassidy (Wolves - striker) Made his first start as Wolves started life under new manager Dean Saunders against Blackburn last Friday.  The Wales U21 international played 79 minutes in the 1-1 draw.

"Young striker Jake Cassidy has done well today – he worked his socks off and I'm proud of him," he said. "I've watched him play – he's young, enthusiastic, fighting for his life and playing in front of the biggest crowd he ever had and he was brilliant, all he needed was a goal.  I've been training with him for three days and he's a good finisher.  Young striker Jake Cassidy has done well today – he worked his socks off and I'm proud of him.  I've watched him play – he's young, enthusiastic, fighting for his life and playing in front of the biggest crowd he ever had and he was brilliant, all he needed was a goal.  I've been training with him for three days and he's a good finisher." Cassidy also made an appearance from the bench as they drew 0-0 with Sheffield Wednesday.

Chris Dawson (Leeds - midfielder) Scored a hat-trick as the U18's beat Burton Albion 6-1 in the FA Youth Cup last week.  He scored twice within 10 minutes as the youth team stormed into the next round.  Dawson played for the development team as they drew with Leicester City this week.

Paul Dummett (Newcastle - defender) Will return to St Mirren on loan for the rest of the season.  The Wales U21 international is out of contract in the summer.

Gwion Edwards (Swansea - midfielder) Will join Michael Doughty on loan at St Johnstone until the end of the season.  The winger signed his first professional contract during the summer.

Conor Evans (Bristol City - midfielder) Has signed his first professional contract at Ashton Gate.

Lee Evans (Newport County - midfielder) Has signed for Wolves for an undisclosed fee.  The 18 year old is on the Wales U21 standby list for the international with Iceland next week.

Ellis Harrison (Bristol Rovers - striker) Who had only just come on, received the ball on the halfway line and set off for goal. After skipping past three somewhat half hearted challenges he found himself in the area and fired a low shot past the Rotherham keeper.  Rovers won the game 3-1.

Jonathan Meades (Bournemouth/AFC Wimbledon - midfielder) Played 90 minutes as the Dons drew 2-2 with Port Vale last weekend. Meades was withdrawn injured in the second half.  The Wales U21 call up is currently on loan from Bournemouth.

Patrick Otte (Fort Lauderdale Striker - midfielder) Will spend the week on trial at Leeds Utd.  Otte was born in the Netherlands to Welsh parents and grew up in California.

Aaron Phillips (Coventry - defender) Has joined Nuneaton Town as he continues his senior team learning experience.  The right back is eligible for Saturday's game against Stockport.

Josh Pritchard (Fulham - defender/midfielder) Has joined Norwegian club Tromso after they agreed a development deal with Fulham. Pritchard played his first games at a tournament in La Manga.
