    Wales v ROI

The FAW have announced a Vauxhall Friendly International with the Republic of Ireland to be played at the Cardiff City Stadium on Wednesday 14th August 2013, kick-off at 7.45pm.

The match will be in preparation for Chris Coleman's side's FIFA World Cup 2014 qualifying matches in September against Macedonia (Away) and Serbia (Home).

The teams have met twelve times before in a series of games that began in 1960. There is very little between the sides – five wins each and two draws, 13 goals for Wales, 16 for the Republic. The last meeting was in Dublin as part of the Carling Nations Cup Tournament in February 2011 when Ireland won 3-0.

Wales manager Chris Coleman commented: "This will be a very useful test for us before embarking on the two World Cup games in September. The timing of the August friendly match is always so near to the start of the new domestic season, so that means a home game is always useful to cut-down on traveling and I am sure that our friends from Ireland will feel the same."

"Their players are all well-known to us, as we will be to them, so it promises to be a good match to get the new season underway and I hope our fans will turn-out to support the team."

The Republic of Ireland has been managed by Italian, Giovanni Trapattoni since 2008 and is currently involved in World Cup qualifiers with Germany, Sweden, Austria, Faroe Islands and Kazakhstan. They will face Sweden (in Dublin) and Austria (in Vienna) in September 2013.

    Tickets will be priced at:

    £15 adults and £5 concessions.
