Elliott Hewitt (Ipswich - defender) Started for Ipswich as they lost 2-1 to Reading last weekend. George Ray (Crewe - defender) Was another Wales U21 international to start for his club last weekend. The young defender played 90 minutes in the 3-3 draw with Rotherham. Ray also started in midweek as the Railwaymen were beaten 3-2 by Bury.

Dominic Smith (Shrewsbury - defender) Was an unused sub as the Shrews lost 3-0 to free scoring Leyton Orient.

Louis Thompson (Swindon - defender) Started the Capitol One Cup fixture with Torquay. The Wales U19 international played 90 minutes in the 1-0 win.

Joe Walsh (Crawley Town - defender) Continued his impressive development with a goal as Crawley opened their League One campaign with a 3-2 win over Coventry. Walsh had been linked with several clubs over the summer and was once again on the score sheet on the second weekend of the season - bagging a brace in a 3-3 draw with Tranmere.
