The Under
21s put-up a hard fight before being defeated
1-0 in a UEFA Under 21 Championship match in Grenoble
this evening (Friday). The Wales team held a talented
French side to 0-0 at half time, before a 50th minute
own goal by defender Neal Eardley put them behind. The
full back deflected a cross from the right past his
own goalie from eight yards. Despite sending-on another
attacker in Sam Vokes, the Wales youngsters were unable
to get an equaliser. This was the opening game for Wales
in a group that also includes Bosnia-Herzegovina, Romania
and Malta. Wales will play Malta next, at the Racecourse,
Wrexham on the 17th October 2007.
