Wales will play Finland in a friendly international at home on Wednesday March 29. The venue for the fixture has yet to be confirmed.

 Mark Hughes set for FAW meeting.
Mark Hughes will discuss the appointment of a new coach at an FAW meeting this Friday. It has been reported that Hughes wants former Manchester United and Blackburn manager Brian Kidd as his No 2. He will also meet the competitions committee to discuss dates for the 2002 World Cup qualifiers. The official group meeting is set for Poland on February 8th.

What Mark Hughes said:

"I won't be bullied by the big boys who want to get an advantage on us."

"I will sit down with my staff and finalise an order of preference to suit ourselves."

"I will want dates to suit the Welsh team."

 UEFA wants to introduce regional competitions.
European soccer’s governing body UEFA wants to replace friendly internationals with a bi-annual regionalised Nations Cup qualifying tournament, with the winners going on to a finals tournament in the summer.

Under the proposals Wales could join England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland in a five-team tournament. Talks are already in progress between the home nations.

 Mark Hughes : "Points before cash."
Mark Hughes says he will put points before cash in a bid to reach the 2002 World Cup finals. Hughes and some FAW members fly out to Poland on February 8th to arrange qualifying fixture dates.

What Mark Hughes said:

"As manager I will go to Poland with the interest of fixing dates that will suit the Welsh team the best."
