Dutchman Raymond Verheijen has been confirmed as the new Wales assistant manager.
Verheijen (age 39) is well known for his expertise on tactics, planning and conditioning, and has worked with some of the best coaches in world football, having worked alongside Frank Rijkaard, Louis Van Gaal, Guus Hiddink and Dick Advocaat.
In the process he has worked towards and been involved in the last seven major tournaments with four different countries, the Netherlands, Russia, South Korea and Australia, reaching 5 semi finals.
Wales will be hoping that the experience gained will be beneficial as under Speed they look to qualify for major finals for the first time since 1958.
”I am delighted to have Raymond on board as part of my team. His experience will prove invaluable and his credentials are first class. I look forward to working closely with him over the next few years starting of course with my first game in charge in Dublin on Tuesday”. - Gary Speed.
