    Women: Wales v Scotland

    Wales will take on Scotland at Parc y Scarlets in their Women’s Euro Championship Qualifier on Saturday 15th September 2012.

    The Group 4 clash will be a real ‘Celtic’ clash. The group has been lead by the favourites, France, but the second-placed team will go into the play-off’s looking for a chance to get to the finals in Sweden in the summer of 2013. Jarmo Matikainen’s Wales’ squad has had an outstanding qualifying tournament, with victories over the Republic of Ireland, Israel (twice) and an away draw in Scotland. The Scots have also had a good tournament and have an additional game after the match with Wales to secure the second spot, but it sees them come-up against the French who have been in rampant form throughout the qualifying games.

    Manager Jarmo said: “This is what we have been working hard for over the campaign – to be in contention for a qualifying spot. I am confident that our squad will do themselves – and the country – proud"

    Kick off time and ticket prices to be announced soon.

    Remaining Group Fixtures:

    15th September: Wales v Scotland & France v Rep.Ireland
    19th September: Israel v Rep.Ireland & Scotland v France

    Wales will qualify for the finals if they beat Scotland on 15th September and then Scotland loose to France on the 19th. That would give both sides thirteen points. The criteria is then as follows (Taken from the competition regulations):

    Equality of points after the group matches
    7.13 If two or more teams are equal on points on completion of the group matches, the following criteria are applied to determine the rankings:
    a) higher number of points obtained in the group matches played between the teams in question;
    In the case of the Scotland v Wales match in Scotland, the match was drawn, so a home win for Wales in the return would give Wales the advantage, regardless of overall goal difference etc. A point for Scotland from either of their last games gives them second place behind France.
