    2018 WORLD CUP SUPPORT

Who Should Welsh Fans Support In The 2018 World Cup?

The 2018 World Cup is finally here, and Wales failed to qualify by just a couple of points in their UEFA qualifying group. Now, Welsh football supporters have to figure out who to cheer for in the biggest tournament in the world. While there are some countries that will not draw any consideration for this honour, there are a few decent choices out there.

First, it is worth pointing out the obvious two teams that Welsh supporters will not be backing when it comes to the big tournament in Russia. Those two teams are England and Serbia. England is an obvious one, given that they are a geographic rival of the Welsh. And, even though England says they are ready to compete, the English victory over Wales in Euro 2016 is another reason not to support England. After all, Wales were the better side for plenty of that match and deserved a point in the eyes of many.

Second, there is no way to justify cheering for Serbia in the World Cup. This is because Serbia won Wales' qualifying group on the road to Russia. If Wales had performed a little better in the group, they may have been able to leapfrog Ireland and Serbia en route to the World Cup Finals. Instead, the Welsh can sit back and hope that Serbia fail to earn points in their matches and that they suffer a quick trip out of the tournament

As for teams that can be Wales-approved to cheer for in the World Cup, there are a couple of decent choices. And, while Marcus Rashford thinks Cristiano Ronaldo is a joke, Ronaldo's Portugal side could be a great choice for the Welsh to back. This decision can be tied to Ronaldo playing alongside Gareth Bale at Real Madrid.

If Portugal doesn't work, then the nation that shares its language may be the one worth supporting. That nation, of course, is Brazil. After their 7-1 humiliation on home soil in the 2014 World Cup, Brazil are one of the favourites to win the tournament this time around. That is thanks to a revamped attack which sees Neymar joined by Gabriel Jesus, to form a strike force that simply didn't exist last time around. That talent up front is a huge reason why World Cup betting tips Betfair are backing the Selecao to perform well.

At the end of the day, no matter who you choose to support in the 2018 World Cup, just know that there aren't many wrong answers out there. Most teams have a great story or two worth backing on the grandest stage of them all. Whether you support a favourite or an underdog, there is a reason the World Cup is the most fun tournament in sport. Just don't support England to win it.
