    BENEFIT FOR WALES

The appointment of Steve Morison will surely benefit the Wales National team, and Kieffer Moore happy

Former Wales International Steve Morison stays in charge at Cardiff, Kieffer Moore happy

Championship side Cardiff City has appointed interim boss Steve Morison as the club's permanent manager until the end of the season.

The appointment of Steve Morison will surely benefit the Wales National team, with youngsters Mark Harris, Isaak Davies and Rubin Colwill already been given plenty of game time in the past few weeks

With his links to the Academy at Under 23 level, we can expect several other Welsh players to be given their opportunity before the end of the season

The ex-Wales striker has been acting in an interim capacity since the departure of Mick McCarthy early last month.

Mark Hudson, a former Bluebirds captain who made over 160 appearances for the club, has returned as first-team coach.

The Welsh side's resurgence under Morison continued on Saturday as the new manager saw his side beat Preston North End 2-1 away on his first assignment as permanent manager. There is a general good feeling among Cardiff fans, and they will be looking at today's football odds with optimism following the recent upturn of results. Morison's effect since McCarthy's departure has delighted the club's owner, Vincent Tan.

Under Morison and fellow under-23 coach Tom Ramasut, Cardiff have picked up four points from three games, with last Saturday's win against Huddersfield ending a winless run of ten Championship games.

"I have been encouraged by the team's improved performances over the past three games, with the adoption of a more attractive and progressive style of football," Tan said.

"What's more, I think that the excellent work done by Steve and Tom at under-23 level this season puts them in the very best position to help develop a talented crop of young players emerging at senior level. I'm also very pleased that Mark is returning to the club as part of the coaching set-up.

"A healthy finish in the Championship this season is, of course, of paramount importance. A review of the side's progress will be undertaken at the end of the campaign."

Before the appointment, Cardiff were also considering former Chelsea assistant managers Eddie Newton and Jody Morris, as well as ex-Rangers coach Michael Beale, who will be following Steven Gerrard to Aston Villa.

Hudson joined the Bluebirds from Charlton Athletic in 2009 and made over 160 appearances for the club.

In 2012, he captained the side to a League Cup final appearance before guiding them to Premier League promotion.
Hudson joined Huddersfield Town in 2014 and, after retiring from playing, became a coach with the Terriers, working under manager David Wagner at the time.

The Guildford-born centre-back joined Huddersfield Town's under-23 coaching staff in 2018 and served as interim boss twice before departing in 2020.

Kieffer Moore happy to work with manager Steve Morison

Meanwhile, Cardiff City striker Kieffer Moore said he was happy to work under Morrison.

Cardiff already has seven points from Morison's four games, and Moore feels the team is making good progress under him. Moore added, "I think everyone has bought into the way he wants us to play."

"We've made some changes, I think everyone can see that, it's been for the better.

"We're moving the ball better, creating more chances and imposing ourselves on the opposition. I think we can now use the international break to reflect on what we've done.
"I'd love to work under Morison, he's been great for us.

"He's not been afraid to put us in our place and tell us what we should and shouldn't be doing. He's given us a real structure and I think people can see that."

Moore scored a brace in the win against Huddersfield. The win lifted the Bluebirds three points out of the relegation zone, while Moore's first goal was the first at the Cardiff City Stadium since August.
