Wales has a long-standing passion for football. Whether we are talking about professional games, amateur tournaments, or even just playing the game for fun, the Welsh love soccer. Naturally, many Welsh fans of football also enjoy betting on games, whether they be friendlies, league matches, or serious international events.
Though the football season is done, friendly games are still being scheduled. For those Welsh fans who enjoy soccer betting, the upcoming friendlies are a source of great interest. In this article, we would like to take a look at the two upcoming friendlies in which Wales is participating, talk about the odds, and give a general overview.
Gibraltar vs. Wales
On 6 June, the Welsh team will be heading over to Portugal for their first friendly of the month. The teams competing will be Gibraltar and Wales, and according to the latest sources, the game will take place at the Estadio Algarve in Portugal. The stadium has the capacity to hold over 30,000 fans, and was built with the UEFA Euro 2004 in mind.
This would not be the first time that Rob Page’s crew is facing off against Gibraltar. Just last year, in October, the Welsh team played against Gibraltar at Wrexham, and managed to pull off an incredible win, scoring four points, to the visiting team’s zero. However, what some are interested in are the odds for this time around.
Based on past performances and current standings, most odd makers seem to be siding with Wales. The Welsh team maybe has not been the most successful, however, they’ve certainly had a better time of it than Gibraltar, who’ve lost the last few games that they’ve played. While we would caution from celebrating a Welsh victory just yet, we would also say that The Dragons are very likely to claim another prey.
Slovakia vs. Wales
Just three days after their game against Gibraltar, Rob Page’s boys are moving on to Slovakia. The game will take place on 9 June, at the Anton Malatisksky Stadium in Trnava. The stadium is home to the local club, Spartak Trnava, and has the capacity to hold over 18,000. While significantly smaller than the Estadio Algarve, fans are still excited to visit the game.
Slovakia and Wales are no strangers to each other. They’ve played five times now, with Wales taking home three wins, and Slovakia only winning once. Their last game was for the Euro 2020 qualifications, when Wales won 1 – 0 in the home game, and tied 1 – 1 in the away game. But, what are the odds like for this upcoming match?
Apparently, many odds makers believe that Wales will be going down this time. The Slovakian team have the home turf advantage, and they’ve performed quite well in the past year. According to some odds makers, the chances for a Slovakian victory is around 40%, while Wales sits at around 25%. On the other hand, there is always a chance for a draw, which sits at around 20-25%.
Though Wales is the underdog this time, they’ve won more than they’ve lost against Slovakia, so they do stand a chance. However, the odds makers are placing the stats in Slovakia’s favor this time around.
