Wales Under 21s
Matty Jones has signed a 2 year contract extension to continue as Wales Under 21 head coach until 2028.
"It’s an honour as U21 head coach to have received recognition with a contract extension, however it’s been a collective effort from all the staff who have provided the very best for our players to perform and execute throughout the campaign. The success of the team has evolved through healthy conflict with players who have shown a great endeavour to learn and better each other. There have been moments of individual excellence as well as grit and determination to get us where we are in the qualification group and that needs to continue"
“The most complex part has been the management of players throughout the age groups, inspiring players to achieve their goals of stepping into the first team but also managing their ambitions and emotions to get the best from them at all levels"
"There has been a great unity between age groups, clear communication amongst staff and players and there has been no better feeling for myself when those individuals have been rewarded with opportunities, especially making their senior debuts"
"To commit to Welsh football for another two years is exciting for me and my family as they have also been a huge contribution and help in my role and I love them for that. They have allowed me to go above and beyond in something I am passionate about" : Matty Jones
"We are delighted that Matty has agreed to sign a contract extension to continue his role as head coach until 2028. He has already achieved a number of impressive results in his first qualifying campaign in charge and put the team in a good position heading into the final two games. The fact that 31 players have made their debut for the under 21s during his time in charge is really positive for us as an association" : FA Wales Chief Football Officer David Adams
