Luke Burton (Shrewsbury Town) born 20001, Goalkeeper.
In his two seasons as a scholar with Shrewsbury, Luke’s playing time was severely restricted by his unavailability through injury. The situation was further compounded, as his return to full fitness in early 2020 was just prior to the eventual restrictions that came about as a result of the pandemic. The club however decided to extend his contract and this season he has been playing regularly for the U-18 team as one of the allowed over age players. Hopefully, it is a situation that has been beneficial for both club and player as decisions on the next steps are made.

Calum Huxley (Sheffield Wednesday) born 2001, Midfielder.
After a successful trial period in late 2020, Wednesday signed Calum on a permanent basis to become a member of their U-23 squad. He has been playing regularly for the team since that time and will be working on developing his game to push toward possible first team involvement that the Wednesday management potentially envisioned when signing him.

Callum Pearson (Bristol City) born 2001, Defender.
Callum completed his time as a scholar with the club last season and had performed well enough for the club to retain his services to become a member of their U-23 squad. I think that I saw his name appear in a couple of matchday squads a few weeks ago but cannot find a means of confirming if I am correct or not. Unfortunately, I am also unable to verify whether injury issues or some other reason is an explanation his absence from the team.

Harry Pinchard (Swansea City) born 2001, Midfielder.

Last season, Harry was a second year scholar at Cardiff and played in almost all of the club’s U-18 team games that were contested in the abbreviated season. The club had a large group of talented second year scholars to consider regarding their futures and in Harry’s case it was a decision to release him that was reached. After impressing enough to be invited for a two week trial at Manchester City, he joined Swansea, playing a few times for their U-23 team in the early season games. He has not played since that time and I cannot provide any information as an explanation. * Update not offered a contract at Swansea

Tom Pugh (Scunthorpe United) born 2000, Midfielder.
Tom is in his second season as a fulltime professional with Scunthorpe, after having moved from Leeds to the club to complete his time as a scholar. He gained some valuable playing time experience when involved in the whole of two early season EFL Trophy games and management must regard him as a member of the extended first team squad. He also made a couple of appearances off the bench in two other cup games and has been on the bench occasionally in league matches. He has in fact been on the bench in their three most recent games and may get to add to the few minutes of league experience he already has in the remaining matches of this season.

Matthew Sargeant (Salford City) born 2001, Midfielder.
Salford signed Matthew at the start of this season as an addition to their U-23 squad and has been playing for that team regularly. He must be impressing the coaching staff as he was given some exposure to first team football when he played in an EFL Trophy match and was also on the bench for an FA Cup tie. His hope now will be to continue his good form and get more opportunities for the first team. Matthew was involved with Wrexham for quite a few years, initially as a schoolboy and eventually playing for the first team in cup games after graduating through their scholar programme.

Jack Stevens (Oxford United) born 2000, Midfielder.
Jack is in his second season as a member of the club’s U-23 squad after previously having a successful time as a schoolboy associate and then a scholar with them. He has not as yet had any first team involvement but other than interruptions through injury he has been playing regularly for the U-23 team. There are two Jack Stevens on the Oxford playing staff, the other a goalkeeper who has been playing for the first team this season.

Matthew Turner (Leeds United - on loan at Haverfordwest County) born 2001, Goalkeeper.

Matthew completed his time as a scholar with Leeds at the end of last season and the club decided to retain his services. Initially an agreement was reached between the two clubs for him to go on loan to Haverfordwest County for the first half of the season and then this was extended for the remainder of it in January. Matthew has been sharing keeper duties for County but has not been in the matchday squads in recent weeks.

Danny Williams (Cardiff City - on loan at Haverfordwest County) born 2000, Forward.
Cardiff signed Danny from Haverfordwest during the January 2019 transfer window after he impressed with a prolific scoring rate at County. He played for the Cardiff U-23 team for the remainder of that season and during last season. This season he has returned on loan to his former club and has been playing regularly for them. It is a new experience for Danny, as Haverfordwest were in the equivalent of the present Cymru South in his previous spell there. Playing in the Cymru Premier and receiving credit for some good performances will hopefully be a good experience that will help him progress at Cardiff.

++ to be confirmed if eligible for Wales
