Charlie Bullock (Newport County) born 2004, Midfielder.
Joining Newport shortly after the start of last season, Charlie quickly earned a place in the club’s U-18 team and has been playing regularly in the side both last season and this one. He had been affiliated with the Bristol City academy and upon completion of that association was invited for trials at County. It did not take long for them to decide to offer him a scholar contract and so he is now in his second year of that status. From what I have been able to gather, Charlie is considered a midfield player but if my suspicions are correct, he seems to have settled into a wing-back role.

Ben Hammond (Nottingham Forest) born 2004, Defender.
A first year scholar at Forest, Ben did play four times for the U-18 team last season when he was still attached to the academy teams. This season, he has become a regular in the side and played in all but a few games. Brother Oliver graduated from the scholar programme last season and has already made his first team debut in Carabao Cup earlier in the season. Ben will I am sure aim to emulate his achievements. Ben attended the 2018 Cymru Cup matches and has continued involvement each season since that time. He played in friendly matches with the U-15’s and then was a member of the successful Victory Shield squad in 2019/20. He was then selected for the U-17 training camp last season and likewise for the U-18’s in this one.

Ronnie Hollingshead (West Bromwich Albion) born 2004, Goalkeeper.
In his first season as a scholar with West Brom, Ronnie seems to have established himself as the primary choice keeper for the U-18 team. He does have strong competition but has started in two thirds of their games. He has been affiliated with the Albion academy system for a number of years and did play four times for the U-18’s last season as he came to the end of his time as a schoolboy. He will he hoping to play as many times as possible for the U-18’s and whilst doing so convince the coaching staff that he is ready for the next step in development and get an opportunity to play for the U-23 team. Ronnie has been involved with Wales teams since the earliest of times as a schoolboy and played in the 2018 Cymru Cup games, progressing with regular selection for the U-15 and U-16 teams. Last season he was a member of the squad selected for the U-17 training camp and was in the group for the U-18 training camp conducted earlier this season.

Kian Jenkins (Swansea City) born 2004, Defender.
In his second season as a scholar with the Swans, Kian has made five starts and a further three appearances off the bench for the U-18’s over the last few months. He has been at Swansea for a few years and performed well as a member of their academy teams. He is primarily a left sided defender who operates in a wing-back role, although he is also capable of playing further up the field if required. The abilities he displayed as a youngster alerted the Wales coaches and he played in the Cymru Cup games and then at U-15 level. I the 2019/20 season he was a member of the Victory Shield squad and then played later in the season for the U-16 development team.

Iwan Roberts (Liverpool) born 2004, Forward.
An academy player at Liverpool for a few years previously, Iwan is this season a first year scholar with the club. He was involved with the U-18 team a half dozen times in the early season games, making three starts and a couple of substitute appearances but has not done so since. Although I have no information to confirm it, it may be that he is unavailable through injury issues. He is another player involved with Wales teams throughout his time as a schoolboy and played for the U-15 and U-16 teams. He was selected for the 2019/20 Victory Shield squad but was unavailable to play in the competition. He has been a participant in the U-17 and U-18 training camps that were organized last year.

Lewys Ware and Morgan Wigley (Cardiff City) born 2004, Midfielder and Forward.

Both Lewys and Morgan are first year scholars at Cardiff this season and have been playing for the club’s U-18 team. Lewys has made a couple of starts as well as five off the bench, is a midfielder who is also capable of playing in a defensive position if required. Morgan is a forward and has made ten starts and has contributed with five goals in those games. As a schoolboy, Morgan was involved in national training camps and played in the 2018 Cymru Cup games. His good form at club level resulted in selection to attend the U-18 training camp earlier in the season.
