Young guns news - Saturday 31 Mar 12

Jake Cassidy (Wolves/Tranmere - striker) Scored his second goal in four days as Tranmere picked up three points with a win against Exeter City. Cassidy a second half sub, cut in from the left channel and curled one past the keeper deep into injury time. "You can see in training that Jake is a natural finisher. He’s been scoring goals since he was a young lad. I’m a big believer that if you score goals regularly, no matter at what level, you will score goals at a higher level." Ronnie Moore, Tranmere manager.

Jordan Cranston (Wolves - defender) Played another 90 minutes for the second string as they crashed to a 2-0 defeat to Bolton on Tuesday. The defender has been a regular for the reserves over the past few weeks.

Adam Henley (Blackburn - defender) was once again on youth team duty as the U18's secured spot in the FA Youth Cup final with a 2-1 2nd leg win against Burnley. Aryn Williams (Burnley - defender) was once again on duty for the Clarets.

Elliot Hewitt (Macclesfield - defender) Is out for the season after undergoing hip surgery this week. The Wales U21 international will be out for four months.

Emyr Huws (Man City - mdifielder) Played 90 minutes and picked up an assist as the U18's beat Everton 2-1. The young Blues remain one point clear of Liverpool at the top of Barclays Group C.

Richard Peniket (Fulham/Hereford - striker) The Wales youth international played 8 minutes midweek against Port Vale and followed that up with 90 minutes in the 1-0 defeat against Crewe last weekend. Billy Bodin (Swindon/Crewe - striker) made his first start for the Railwaymen.

Aaron Phillips (Coventry - defender) & Will Roberts (Coventry - midfidelder) Started for the reserves as they took on Hereford on Monday. The Sky blues ran out 1-0 winners.

Casey Thomas (Swansea City - striker) Picked up a goal for the reserves as they drew 2-2 with Chelsea in midweek. The Wales U21 international scored with a header from close range.

Jon Williams (Crystal Palace - midfielder) Played another 80 minutes for the first team as they drew 1-1 with Doncaster in midweek.


Young guns news - Sunday 25 Mar 12

Billy Bodin (Swindon - striker) Will spend another stint out on loan after leaving Swindon for Crewe. The Wales U21 international has signed until the end of the season.

Jake Cassidy (Wolves/Tranmere - striker) Made his debut for Tranmere last weekend - coming on in the 66th minute in the 1-1 darw with Sheffield United. And followed that up with his first goal - four minutes after coming on as a sub in the 2-0 win against Rochdale.

Jordan Cranston (Wolves - defender) Played 90 minutes for the reserves on Monday as they drew 1-1 with Everton. Adam Davies (Everton - goalkeeper) was between the sticks for the home side.

Gwion Edwards (Swansea City - midfielder) Fired in the winner as the youth team beat Pontardawe to move into the semi-finals of the FAW Youth Cup. He was joined on the score sheet by Kurtis March (Swansea City - striker).

Adam Henley (Blackburn - defender) Picked up 90 minutes of game time for the youth team as they took a 1-0 advantage in the first leg of the FA Youth Cup this week. Aryn Williams (Burnley - defender) was a starter for the Clarets.

Emyr Huws (Man City - midfielder) Played 70 minutes for the U18's as they beat Barnsley 2-0 last Saturday. Huws has been missing for most of the season, but seems to be slowly getting more and more game time after playing 45 minutes last weekend.

Aaron Phillips (Coventry - defender) Scored his second goal in two games as the U18's drew 2-2 with Arsenal last weekend.

Mason Spence (MK Dons - defender) Was on the score sheet as the U18's beat Watford 2-1. The Wales qualified defender had earlier struck the post - but this time he made certain as he cut in from the right and drove his shot in.

Jon Williams (Crystal Palace - midfielder) Played 71 minutes last Saturday as he made his first team return in the 0-0 draw with Hull. The Wales U21 international also played 30 minutes in the 1-0 win against Barnsley in midweek.


Young guns news - Friday 16 Mar 12

Adam Davies (Everton - goalkeeper)
Kept a clean sheet as the reserves travelled to the North East and picked up three points against Sunderland. The Welsh qualified keeper was joined in the squad by Connor Roberts (Everton - goalkeeper) was the sub keeper.

Jake Cassidy (Wolves - striker) Will spend the next month on loan at Tranmere after impressing manager Ronnie Moore. The Wales U21 international will join fellow Wales youth internationals Owain Fon Willams and Ashton Taylor at Prenton Park.

David Cornell (Swansea City/Hereford - goalkeeper) Has regained his place between the sticks at Edgar St after a spell on the sidelines. Cornell kept a clean sheet as Hereford beat Morecambe 1-0 last weekend.

Jordan Cranston (Wolves - defender) Has been offered a professional contract at Wolves. The Wales youth international has been gaining valuable reserve team action over the past few months.

Gwion Edwards (Swansea City - midfielder) Was lauded by Swansea legend Alan Curtis for his reserve team performances this season. Edwards set up Casey Thomas (Swansea City - striker) for his sides goal in a 1-1 draw against Fulham. Like all young players he has got to work on his final ball, but he is someone who is benefitting from playing against experienced players and internationals. If there was a Reserve Player of the Season then Gwion Edwards would probably claim that prize - he was excellent again."

David Goldsmith (WBA - striker) Made an appearance for the reserves in midweek as they crashed 3-0 to Arsenal. The Wales youth international also played for the U18's at the weekend.

George Higgins (UD Almeira - midfielder) Has signed a four contract at his club after impressing this season.

Emyr Huws (Man City - midfielder) Returned to U18 action last weekend, the Wales youth international played 46 minutes in 2-2 draw with Leeds United.

Jack Nardiello (Stoke - striker) Kept up his red hot form with the only goal of the game as the U18's beat Barnsley 1-0. The Wales youth international struck with his left, and could have had a second but the post came to the rescue.

Aaron Phillips (Coventry - defender) & Will Roberts (Coventry - midfielder) Both scored as the U18's ran out comfortable winners against Ipswich last weekend.

George Williams (MK Dons - striker) Was back on youth team duty last weekend and he struck from the spot on his returns. The MK Dons squandered a two goal advantage as Palace came back to win 3-2.

Jon Williams (Crystal Palace - midfielder) Played 50 minutes for a development team against Saints this week. Williams will have been pleased to be back on the field despite the 6-0 defeat.

Young guns news - Sunday 11 Mar 12

Billy Bodin (Swindon - striker)
Kept up his recent good form with a goal inside 25 minutes as the Robins faced Dagenham & Redbridge. The Wales U21 international also had a hand in a second as his side beat a Dagenham & Redbridge side 4-0.

Jonathan Bond (Watford/Dagenham and Redbridge - goalkeeper) Kept a clean sheet as the Daggers beat Bradford 1-0 at home last weekend.


Jake Cassidy (Wolves - striker) Picked up a double as the reserves beat Norwich City on Tuesday. He was joined on the field by Jordan Cranston (Wolves - defender) and Josh Dawkin (Norwich City - striker) who was starting for the Canaries.

Michael Doughty (QPR - midfielder) Will spend the next month on loan as he continues his senior playing career. Doughty made an appearance off the bench in the second half as The Shots lost 1-0 to Torquay.

Paul Dummett (Newcastle - defender) Is another Wales youth international who will spend a month out on loan to get some game time under his belt after knee injury. The U21 international went straight into action - starting in the 2-0 win against Hayes & Yeading in the Blue Square Bet Premier.
"I want to go there, make an impression and hopefully my time there will help me in the long run.It will be good to gain experience playing in this league, and hopefully I can help Gateshead win some games."

Keiron Freeman (Nottingham Forest/Notts County - defender) Played 90 minutes in a defence that managed to keep a clean sheet against Carlisle last weekend. The Magpies our now up to sixth and in the play-off spots.

Elliott Scotcher (Ipswich - midfielder) Has been given the news that all scholars dread - that he will not be offered a pro-contract at the end of the season. The former Bluebird academy member will now look for another club as he looks to continue his footballing development.

George Williams (MK Dons - striker) Made his league debut aged 16 last Saturday as the MK Dons drew 1-1 with Hartlepool. The Wales U17 international came off the bench after 70 minutes. Williams also made a 15 minute appearance in midweek as the MK Dons lost 1-0 to Yeovil.

Jon Williams (Crystal Palace - midfielder) Made a welcome return to training last week after breaking his leg on international duty last October.

James Wilson (Bristol city - defender) Could have kicked his last ball of the season after suffering an ankle injury in training last week. The Wales U21 international rolled his ankle on Friday and the official website confirms that the injury was a bad one.

Young guns news - Sunday 4 Mar 12

Wes Burns (Bristol City - midfielder)
Scored two very well taken first half goals as the U18's raced to a lead against Spurs, unfortunately the Londoners fought back to claim a 3-2 victory. He was joined on the field in the second half by Miles John (Bristol City - striker).

Josh Dawkin (Norwich - forward) Picked up an assist as the reserves beat Wolves 3-2 this week. Jordan Cranston (Wolves - defender) played the full 90 minutes for the visitors.

Jack Evans (Gillingham - defender) Made another start as the Gills beat Hereford 2-0 at the Priestfield Stadium. Evans also started against Hereford in midweek - unfortunately he was taken off at half time in a 5-4 win.

Gethin Jones (Everton - midfielder) Made a start for the U18's and scored as the Toffees lost a mini derby 3-1 against Liverpool. He was joined in the starting XI by Connor Roberts (Everton - goalkeeper) who saved a second half penalty.

Jack Nardiello (Stoke - striker) Picked up a hat-trick as the U18's beat Bolton 3-1 last Saturday. The Wales youth international moved to Stoke from Leicester City.

Leon Newell (Birmingham - midfielder) Is back running outside after 3 months of inactivity after suffering an injury training.

Alex Nicholson (Newcastle - defender) And his U18 team mates bowed out of The FA Youth Cup on penalties against Blackburn Rovers on Monday night.

Aryn Williams (Burnley - defender) Played 90 minutes as the U18's beat Tranmere 2-0 last weekend. Williams is the brother of former Wales U21 international Rhys
