Young guns news - Friday 29 Apr 11

Billy Bodin (Swindon - striker)
Has had a run of games on the bench as Swindon slipped out of League One with a series of defeats.  Paul Hart seemed reluctant to use too many youth players even though his side were edging nearer and nearer the trap door. 

Troy Brown (Ipswich - defender) Made an appearance at The Liberty as the Tractor Boys suffered another heavy defeat in the Championship.  Brown entered the field of play after 51 minutes as Ipswich lost 4-1 to the Swans. 

Luke Chambers (Southend - goalkeeper) Made several fine saves as the youth team comfortably beat Gillingham 5-1 last week.  Jack Evans (Gillingham - defender) started for the Gills.

Joe Culshaw (Morecambe - defender) Captained the reserves against Wrexham and Burnley and picked up 90 minutes in both games. 

Michael Doughty (QPR/Woking - midfielder) Has been impressive since he moved to Woking on loan.  The Wales U19 international has started the past three games all of which his side have won. 

Nathaniel Jarvis (Cardiff - striker) + Steffan Jones (Cardiff City - defender) Were on the scoresheet as City reserves thumped Yeovil 5-1. 

Jason Lampkin (Aston Villa - midfielder) Played 90 minutes for the reserves as he steps up his return from a nasty knee ligament injury.  The Villains lost 2-1 to Chelsea. 

Leon Newell (Birmingham - striker) Played 90 mins for the Under 18s against Leicester last week and gained a 1-1 draw.

Alex Nicholson (Newcastle - defender) And his fellow defenders picked up a clean sheet as the Magpies U18's beat Barnsley 3-0 this week.  

Hal Robson-Kanu (Reading striker) Picked up a goal but the Royals still lost 3-2 to Sheffield United on Bank Holiday Monday.  The Wales international hooked into an empty net but his side squandered a two goal lead. 

Aaron Phillips (Coventry - defender) Played the 90 as the U18's thrashed Villa 5-0 in the penultimate game o the season.  

Conor Roberts (Everton - goalkeeper) Kept a clean sheet on Tuesday as the U18's ran out easy winners in the derby against Liverpool.  Roberts has been in fine form for youth and reserves over the past few weeks. 

James Wilson (Bristol City - defender) Has made several bench appearances as he looks to sp his return after a lengthy injury lay off.  His latest appearance was last Monday as the Robins lost 3-2 to Forest at Ashton Gate.  Wilson is set make his first start of the season for Bristol City against Derby tomorow after 12 months out injured.


Young guns news - Saturday 23 Apr 11

Daniel Alfei (Swansea City - defender) Has signed a new three year contract at The Liberty after impressing Brendan Rodgers.  Alfei has made two first team appearances for the Swans in the FA Cup. 

Tom Bradshaw (Shrewsbury - striker) Scored Shrewsbury's first as they beat Stockport last weekend.  Bradshaw sprung the offside trap to score his sides first, and also had a hand in the other two as the Shrews won 3-0. 

Joe Culshaw (Morecambe - defender/midfielder 17yr old Joe Culshaw captains Morecambe reserves against Wrexham reserves at Kendal and Burnley reserves at Turf Moor and plays 90min in both games.

Michael Doughty (QPR - midfielder) Has been sent on loan to Woking as he looks to get some senior game time.  The midfielder is highly thought of at Loftus Road and will benefit as Woking are still in with a play-off shout in the Blue Square Premiership.  Doughty qualifies for Wales through a Welsh grandmother.

Matt Harriott (Sheff Utd - midfielder) Who was on the U21 standby list for Wales' international against Andorra in March made the bench as the Blades crashed 3-1 to Preson last weekend.  Harriott was an unused sub in the defeat. 

Adam Henley (Blackburn - defender) Adam played the full 90 minutes for Rovers Reserves in a friendly against Crewe on Monday, April 18th. Rovers won 2-1.  Adam will now be going to Norway with the Wales U19 squad

James Loveridge (Swansea City - striker) Scored for the reserves as they beat Torquay Utd 2-0 this week.  Loveridge is a Wales U17 international. 

Alex Lynch (Amlwch - goalkeeper) Has signed a two year contract at London Road.  The Holyhead born youngster is a U16 international. 

James Wilson (Bristol City - defender) Played another 90 minutes for the reserves this week as he picked up more match fitness after a spell on the sidelines.  The game finished 2-1 to Yeovil. 


Young guns news - Friday 15 Apr 11

Declan Dalley (Unattached - defender) Played a full game for the Man Utd U16's as they beat Leeds 7-1.  He has now been offered a 2 year scholarship after recently leaving Cardiff City.

Jonathan Evans (Accrington - midfielder) Scored twice as the U18's beat Wrexham 2-0 a fortnight ago.  Evans has been in good form of late and has picked up game time for the second string as well. 

Adam Henley (Blackburn - defender) Started once again for the reserves as they tackled Newcastle. Henley played 90 minutes in the 4-4. 

Aaron Holloway (Bristol City - defender/midfielder/striker) Has been offered a professional contract at Ashton Gate after impressing the coaching staff.  Holloway had cause for a double celebration after being called up from the U19 standby squad to travel to Spain for a training camp.  Holloway also picked up a goal as the U18's lost 4-2 to Fulham. 

Jason Lampkin (Aston Villa - striker) Was on the bench for the reserves as he stepped up his comeback from a serious knee injury.  The youngster managed a few minutes in the 3-1 win.  Lampkin was also involved at the weekend and created his sides winning goal as the U18's beat Cardiff in the capitol.  There was also a brief run out for the Flint born youngster this week as the reserves drew 0-0 with West Ham. 

Tom Lawrence (Man Utd - midfielder) Scored a consolation as United lost the Lancashire derby to Liverpool on Monday afternoon.  Lawrence flicked the ball past a defender before rolling the ball under the keeper. The game finished 2-1 to Liverpool.

Leon Newell (Birmingham - striker) Came on for the last 30 minutes as Birmingham lost 1-0 to Brighton in a reserve team encounter this week. 

Patrick Otte (Middlesbrough - defender) Has been released by Boro and now plies his trade back in the States for Ventura County Fusion. 

Richard Peniket (Fulham - striker) Is in a rich vein of form with a brace against Bristol City U18's last Saturday before picking up the winning goal v Southampton in midweek.  Peniket has had a bad run of injuries over the past few seasons and will now hope to get a few games under his belt as the season comes to a close. 

Elliot Scotcher (Ipswich - midfieler) Got the better of fellow U17 international Leon Newell (Birmingham - striker) as the Ipswich U18's beat Birmingham 4-0 last weekend.  Both played 90 minutes. 

Jordan Spence (Mk Dons - defender) Picked up an assist as the U18's beat Portsmouth 2-0 last weekend.


Young guns news - Sunday 3 Apr 11

Tom Bradshaw: photo linked from Propaganda-Photo.comTom Bradshaw (Shrewsbury) Stepped off the bench to grab a brace as the Shrews beat Bradford 2-1.  Bradshaw picked upy - strikerhis first from an acute angle before securing the three points with a tap in.

Ryan Doble (Southamtpon/Oxford - striker) Has joined Oxford until the end of the season.  Doble who previously had a month with Stockport will now have a good chance of getting valuable playing time.  

Michael Doughty (QPR - midfielder) Played 45 minutes for the reserves against Fulham this week.  Doughty is a rising star at Loftus Road and came very close to scoring a goal in the 0-0 draw.  

Jonathan Evans (Accrington Stanley - winger) Scored twice as the youth team thumped Wrexham 6-1.  Evans has been in fine form of late with appearances for the youth and reserve side.

Sam Hart (Preston - defender) And the reserve team moved into the next round of the LFA Senior Cup with a penalties win against Liverpool.  

Chike Candi (Birmingham - striker) Made his debut for the U18's last Saturday as they beat Portsmouth 2-0.  Candi who was played in the Victory Shield for Wales played the full game.  

Jordan Holt (Hull - defender) Played 90 minutes for the youth team as they beat Notts County 1-0 to record a second win in as many games.  

Jason Lampkin (Aston Villa - midfieder) Has taken his first steps towards full fitness with 30 minutes and a goal for the U18's against Crystal Palace last weekend.  After suffering a horrendous knee ligament injury in the FA Youth Cup over nearly a year ago, it has been a long road to recovery.  Just before the injury Lampkin was called up for the Wales U19's.

Adam Henley (Blackburn - defender) Picked up another 90 minutes for the second string as they comprehensively beat West Ham 4-1 this week.  The Wales youth international is now plying regular second string football.  

Vinny Mukendi (Macclesfield - striker) Who has previously trained with Wales U19's has been called up by DR Congo U19 for a tournament in France.

Josh Rees (Arsenal - midfielder) Started for the reserves as they lost 2-1 to Wigan this week.  Rees qualifies for Wales through virtue of Welsh grandparents from Pembrokeshire.  

James Wilson (Bristol City - defender) Lashed in two early goals as the second string beat a Nike Academy 7-0 in midweek.  Wilson completed another 80 minutes on his comeback from injury.
