Young guns news - Monday 29th Nov 10

Jonathan Bond (Watford - goalkeeper) Made some important stops early on as the U18 team beat Reading 3-1.

Kayladen Brown (WBA/Dagenham & Redbridge - striker) Started his first game for the Daggers as they took on Oldham.  Brown played 70 minutes in the 1-0 loss.

Jordan Cranston (Wolves - defender) Had a hand in the goal as Wolves maintained a streak with a narrow win against Stoke last weekend.  It is now four wins in four for the U18's. 

Michael Doughty (QPR - midfielder) Gave his side the lead on 20 minutes but it wasn't enough to stop Luton from sharing the poins in the U18 encounter last weekend.  The game finished 1-1. 

Paul Dummett (Newcastle - defender) + Alex Nicholson (Newcastle - defender) Enjoyed derby success as the U18 team beat Middlesbrough 4-3 last weekend.  Both played 90 minutes in the win.

Jonathan Evans (Accrington Stanley - midfielder) Scored for the U18's as they beat Blackpool last week. 

Aaron Holloway (Bristol City - defender/midfielder/striker) Picked up an assist and then was replaced injured after 46 minutes as the U18 team beat MK Dons 4-2 last Saturday.

Gerwyn Jones (DC United U20's - defender) Was named in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference First Team last week.  After leaving Tranmere, Jones has flourished over in the States and will now look to get a chance in the MLS. 

Richard Peniket (Fulham - striker) Made an appearance off the bench for the reserves on Monday.  Peniket has struggled with injury this season and will now hope to get a good run under his belt.

Christian Ribeiro (Bristol City - defender) Started at right back as Bristol City beat Sven's Leicester 2-0 last Saturday.  The Wales international played 90 minutes as the defence kept a clean sheet.

Ashton Taylor (Tranmere - defender/midfielder) Returned to the first team fold after injury last weekend as Rovers beat Notts County 1-0.  Taylor was also in the squad for the midweek game against Hartlepool but did not get on. 

Rhys Taylor (Chelsea/Crewe - goalkeeper) Is set to stay at Gresty Road until the end of the season.  The Wales U21 international is not expecting to to be recalled by Chelsea and is firmly set as the first choice under Dario Gradi.


Young guns news - Sunday 21st Nov 10

Josh Dawkin (Norwich - striker) Didn't play a part for he U18's last weekend as he travelled with the first team to Reading.  Even though the Wales U19 international didn't figure he will be excited to be a part of the first team plans.

Ibrahim Farah (Cardiff City - midfielder) Picked up a goal and an assist as the U18's picked up a fourth win on the trot as they beat Spurs 2-1.  Farah the skipper scored the decisive goal as he chipped the on rushing keeper.

Aaron Holloway (Bristol City - defender/midfielder/striker) Was up front again for the U18's as the took on Leicester last weekend.  Holloway picked up a goal but the team lost 6-2.

Alex Nicholson (Newcastle - defender) Was on the winning side as the U18's squeaked home against Barnsley last Saturday morning. Nicholson played at the back in the 3-2 win.

Conor Roberts (Tranmere - midfielder) Is back in the treatment room after breaking his wrist in a reserve game last week.  Roberts had only just returned from a broken metatarsal.

Jake Taylor (Reading - midfielder) Misses the chance to turn out for the U21 side as he is recovering after undergoing knee surgery.


Young guns news - Sunday 14th Nov 10

Kayleden Brown (WBA - striker) Will spend the next month on loan at Dagenham and Redbridge.  This will be the strikers second period away from the Hawthorns this season after an earlier loan at Tranmere. 

Troy Brown (Ipswich - defender) Played the last five minutes as the Tractor boys ground out a 2-1 win Bramall Lane against Sheffield United.  Brown has been used mostly from the bench this season, and will now hope to impress Brian Flynn when he lines up for the U21's against Austria.

Ryan Doble (Southampton - striker) Picked up three assists as the Southampton U21 team beat Bournemouth 5-1.  Doble was singled out for praise by Martin Hunter"......Ryan Doble's contribution was also very, very good today in terms of him getting hold of the ball and linking other players in."

Jonathan Evans (Accrington Stanley - winger) Made his first appearance for the first team in a Lancashire Cup match v Bolton last week.  Evans came on for the last 25 minutes as Accrington won 3-2.

Ibrahim Farah (Cardiff City - midfielder) Scored from the spot as City beat Coventry 2-1 in an U18 fixture last Saturday.  The Wales U19 international rocketed in his spot kick to notch his sides first.  The Sky Blues had Aaron Phillips (Coventry - defender) in the starting line up.

Sean Geddes (Walsall - midfielder) Picked up game time and an assist as the second string demolished Rotherham 7-0 this week.  Geddes has been a regular on the Saddlers bench this season without actually getting on.

Adam Henley (Blackburn - defender) Picked up a couple of assists as the U18's trounced Stoke 5-1 last weekend.  The Wales youth international played the full 90 minutes.

Conor Roberts (Tranmere - midfielder) Made a first appearance after injury as the reserves lost 1-0 to Preston on Wednesday night.  Roberts was a second half sub.  The Preston starting XI contained Sam Hart (Preston - defender).

Ashton Taylor (Tranmere - defender/midfielder) Returned to training this week after four months out with a damaged knee cartiliage picked up in training.  Manager Les Parry hopes that the Wales youth international will be able to pick up a reserve game in a week or so.


Young guns news - Sunday 7th Nov 10

Tom Bradshaw (Shrewsbury - striker) Will miss the chance to step up to U21 level after picking up an ankle injury playing for the U19's against Kazahkstan.

Jake Cassidy (Wolves - striker) Played the full 90 as the reserves trounced Chelsea 4-0.  Cassidy should probably have got his name on the score sheet but scooped over from close range. 

Josh Dawkin (Norwich - striker) Scored an excellent goal as the Canaries battled back from a goal down to clinch all three points against Fulham U18's. 

Paul Dummett (Newcastle - defender) Once again picked up reserve game time this week as the Geordies took on Wigan on Tuesday night.  The game finished 2-1 to Wigan.

Michael Doughty (QPR - midfielder) Was singled out for some praise on the weekend as the U18 team beat Gillingham 3-1. I thought Michael Doughty did well in the centre for us.  He kept the ball well, and found space for us." Kevin Gallen, Head of youth development.

Alex Nicholson (Newcastle - defender) And fellow defenders kept a clean sheet as the U18 team beat Leeds 3-0 last Saturday morning.  Nicholson has played for Wales at U17 level.

Aristote Nsiala (Everton/Macclesfield - defender) Will spend another month on loan at Moss Rose after impressing the management.  The defender will also be available for FA Cup duty against Southend on Saturday.
